In Morehead City, NC they are having the Big Rock Tournament. It is a total release sailfish competition. The big money is for the boats that catch Blue or White Marlin. There are other fishing categories as well. The winning boat last year was a Viking 62 and they hooked a Blue Marlin that weighed 680 pounds. Their winnings totaled $560,500. The picture above shows some of the big boats that come to Morehead City for the tournament.

I’d love to catch a marlin! Or at least participate in the thrill of it all…lovely boat scene. ‘Tis a shame they have to bring in the fish to weigh it; I’d rather someone just photograph it, show that to the judges, and let the fish go!

I agree, but it is against the rules to bring in one smaller than the fish that have already been weighed.
