Posted in Model Train Display O Gauge

All Aboard!!

My husband and I are building an O gauge model train display.  He is doing all the technical stuff like designing the track layout to see if it works.  I will be creating the scenery.  Many train displays depict a specific city  or local town to the area.  Our city will be straight from our imagination!!  We are just getting started so I thought I would share a photo of the beginning of our display.  He created the foundation out of 5 hollow core doors and then painted them brown like the ground.  The display is 16 feet x 6 feet wide.

He has just finished adding the outer circle to the display and in the bottom right corner he is testing a train on the track to see if any piece of the track needs to be replaced. Happy Creating!!

Art Everywhere

My niece read a story in her class about how a turkey was trying to run away from the farmer so he wouldn’t end up on someone’s table for Thanksgiving.  She had to write her own story about how the turkey escaped the farmer and she had to illustrate it.

In my niece’s story, the turkey escapes the farmer by going to France and disguising itself as a Poodle.

Stuck on You

I bought a small  5 inch x 8 inch Dyan Reaveley journal, and I wanted to do something really special for my journal cover.  I was reading various blogs and I stumbled upon a video Julie Balzer created where she embossed a sheet of metal foil for her journal cover.    Watch her video here.  I did not have the supplies she used so I improvised.  I found some metal tape at Lowes Hardware which is used for taping air conditioning ducts.  I cut each piece of tape the width of the front and back cover and embossed it using Tim Holtz Checkerboard Texture Fades.  Once I stuck the strips of tape on my journal cover, I then added various colors of Perfect Pearls Powder by Ranger.  To seal the journal cover I added Matte Gel Medium.

You’re Invited

I invited a group of ladies to my house for a Stampin’ Up workshop.  I wanted my invitation to show some pizzazz and some style.  I used a Loralie stamp and some scrapbooking paper for the shirt of the clothes. The rest I colored with Copic markers.

Out to Sea

It was a beautiful afternoon and my husband was fishing in the Atlantic Ocean.  (I like to drive the boat.) We were enjoying the calm waters and the beautiful weather.

All of a sudden…

You just never know what you will see out in the ocean!!  I’m so glad I had my camera!!
